The 12 Fed district banks “indicated that the pace of decline has moderated since the last report or that activity has begun to stabilize, albeit at a low level.” It indicates that retail activity is weak with essentially no wage pressure

Filed under: Major movement , Earnings reports , Bad news , Options , Technical Analysis Royal Caribbean Cruises (NYSE: RCL - option chain ) stock is falling today after the company reported a second-quarter loss of $35.1 million, or 16 cents per share , worse than analysts’ forecasts of a loss of 13 cents per share. RCL also forecast third-quarter earnings of 95 cents to $1 per share, while analysts are expecting a profit of $1.22 per share. If you think this stock won’t be rising too far in the coming months, then it could be a good time to look at a bearish hedged play on RCL

ConocoPhillips barely tops second-quarter expectations

Filed under: Earnings reports , ConocoPhillips (COP) Oil firm ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP ) reported second-quarter earnings of 87 cents per share this morning, barely edging the consensus estimate calling for 85 cents per share. Despite topping the consensus estimate, the results fell well short of last year’s same-quarter earnings of $3.50 per share. Quarterly revenue totaled $35.4 billion, which was less than half of the $71.4 billion earned a year ago
